Biden EPA sets the first federal PFAS drinking water limits

The Biden EPA finalized the first nationally enforceable maximum contaminant levels for PFAS chemicals in drinking water, setting a limit of 4 parts per trillion for PFOA and PFOS — the two most studied "forever chemicals." Public water systems serving 330 million Americans were given until 2029 to meet the new standards. EPA estimated the rule would prevent thousands of deaths and tens of thousands of serious illnesses annually. The rule also set limits for four other PFAS compounds.
