54 faith leaders arrested in Hart Senate Building demanding ICE defunding

More than 80 faith leaders staged a sit-in in the atrium of the Hart Senate Office Building on January 29, 2026, carrying banners reading "Do Justice, Love Kindness, Abolish ICE." Capitol Police arrested 54 demonstrators on misdemeanor charges of impeding business flow.
