Trump signs two executive orders ending federal DEI programs and contractor affirmative action

On Jan. 20 and 21, 2025, President Trump signed Executive Order 14151, ending federal equity programs and ordering agencies to terminate equity-related grants within 60 days, and Executive Order 14173, which requires federal contractors to certify they run no DEI program that violates anti-discrimination law and revokes President Lyndon Johnson's 1965 affirmative-action order. The certification is made enforceable under the False Claims Act.
