Senate committees release $72 billion reconciliation package for ICE and CBP funding
Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Chuck Grassley and Homeland Security Committee Chair Rand Paul released a $71.9 billion budget reconciliation spending package on May 4, 2026, funding DHS enforcement through 2029. The package included $38.2 billion for ICE, $26.4 billion for CBP, $5 billion for DHS operations, $1.5 billion for DOJ, and $1 billion for the Secret Service. The Congressional Budget Office scored the package at $72 billion in deficit spending, and Senate GOP leaders scheduled floor debate for the week of May 18, 2026.
