ACA Marketplace Insurers Seek 18% Median Premium Hike for 2026

The Peterson-KFF Health System Tracker published an analysis on August 6, 2025 of 312 insurer rate filings across all 50 states and the District of Columbia, finding a median proposed premium increase of 18% for 2026 ACA Marketplace plans. The proposed increase was approximately 11 percentage points higher than the prior year and the largest rate change insurers had requested since 2018. Of the 312 insurers, 125 proposed increases of 20% or more, while only 4 proposed decreases.
