Federal authorities arrest Rachel Marie Powell in a Pennsylvania Jan. 6 case

Federal authorities arrested Rachel Marie Powell, then 40, of Sandy Lake, in a Pennsylvania Jan. 6 Capitol breach case. The case involved civil disorder, obstruction, property destruction, restricted-building entry with a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct, and physical violence on Capitol grounds. NPR records that Powell later was found guilty on all counts in a bench trial. She was sentenced on October 17, 2023 to 57 months in prison, 36 months of supervised release, $2,753 in restitution, a $5,000 fine, and a $555 assessment. NPR records that the obstruction conviction was later vacated and the case was dismissed with prejudice on January 21, 2025.
