Judge Carter temporarily blocks Job Corps shutdown

U.S. District Judge Andrew Carter Jr. of the Southern District of New York issued a temporary restraining order on June 4, 2025 blocking the Department of Labor from giving effect to the elimination of Job Corps. The order came one day after the National Job Corps Association and other plaintiffs sued in National Job Corps Association v. Chavez-DeRemer, 1:25-cv-04641. Carter scheduled a preliminary injunction hearing for June 17.
