D.C. Circuit panel lifts CFPB layoff injunction in 2-1 ruling

A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit voted 2-1 to vacate Judge Amy Berman Jackson's preliminary injunction, allowing acting CFPB director Russell Vought to proceed with firing about 1,400 of the bureau's roughly 1,700 employees. Judges Gregory Katsas and Neomi Rao (both Trump appointees) formed the majority; Judge Cornelia Pillard dissented, writing that it is not within the discretion of the president to decide the country would benefit if there were no Bureau at all.
