ODNI, FBI, and CISA attribute the Trump campaign hack to Iran
Federal intelligence and law-enforcement agencies said Iran was behind the compromise of Donald Trump's campaign and related attempts to target the Biden-Harris side. The joint statement said Tehran was trying to stir discord and undermine confidence in democratic institutions, and later Treasury sanctions and a Justice Department indictment tied the activity to IRGC-linked hackers and a broader hack-and-leak strategy. The case showed how campaign hacking remained an active foreign interference tool even after the 2016 Russia playbook became widely known (joint ODNI-FBI-CISA statement; Treasury sanctions; DOJ indictment; Axios and Washington Post reporting).
