Trump orders Syria strikes after ISIS Palmyra ambush kills two Iowa National Guard soldiers

President Trump ordered retaliatory airstrikes in Syria after ISIS operatives killed two Iowa National Guard soldiers — Sgt. Edgar Torres-Tovar, 25, of Des Moines, and Sgt. William Howard, 29, of Marshalltown — and civilian interpreter Ayad Mansoor Sakat in a Palmyra ambush. The U.S. and Jordan launched 100+ munitions against 70 ISIS targets across Syria using A-10s, F-16s, Apache helicopters, and HIMARS. The operation was named "Hawkeye Strike" after Iowa's state nickname.
