National Archives Retrieves 15 Boxes of Trump White House Records from Mar-a-Lago
The National Archives and Records Administration retrieved 15 boxes of White House records from former President Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida on February 9, 2022, following negotiations with Trump representatives that began in 2021. NARA confirmed on February 18 that the boxes contained documents marked as classified national security information. The materials included Trump's correspondence with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and a letter from President Obama, all of which should have been transferred to NARA when Trump left office in January 2021 under the Presidential Records Act. NARA referred the matter to the Department of Justice for investigation.
