Victor Manuel Aguirre is sentenced for voting from the Pima County Jail

Pima County Superior Court sentenced Victor Manuel Aguirre to six months in the Arizona Department of Corrections. The Arizona Attorney General's Office said Aguirre pleaded guilty to attempted illegal voting after falsely completing a voter-registration form while he was held in the Pima County Jail in 2020. Prosecutors said the county recorder did not know about Aguirre's prior felony convictions, and his vote was counted in the 2020 general election. The sentence gave Arizona a court-tested record of one jail-based illegal vote, not a finding that the election outcome changed.
