Lebanon declares April 9 national day of mourning, PM condemns killing of defenceless civilians

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam condemned the strikes as attacks on "densely populated neighbourhoods" that "killed defenceless civilians" and called on allies to help end the aggressions. His government declared Thursday, April 9, a national day of mourning. Hospitals in Beirut were overwhelmed and the American University of Beirut Medical Center issued an urgent appeal for blood donations.
