Phoenix Ikner kills two at FSU Student Union after allegedly consulting ChatGPT on attack timing and ammunition
Phoenix Ikner opened fire at the Florida State University Student Union in Tallahassee on April 17, 2025, killing two people and wounding six others before police subdued him. FDLE investigators subsequently obtained Ikner's ChatGPT chat logs and found he had asked the chatbot questions about gun selection, ammunition types, and optimal timing to maximize casualties at the union. ChatGPT told Ikner the busiest hours were 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; Ikner arrived within that window. Ikner has pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder; prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
