DOJ charges IRS contractor Charles Littlejohn with leaking tax returns of Trump and thousands of wealthy Americans
The Justice Department charged Charles Littlejohn, an IRS contractor employed by Booz Allen Hamilton, with willfully disclosing the confidential tax return information of a unnamed public official — later publicly identified as Donald Trump — and more than 7,000 of the wealthiest Americans. Littlejohn had provided the data to two news outlets, ProPublica and the New York Times, over several years starting in 2018. Prosecutors charged a single count under 26 U.S.C. § 7213, which carries a maximum five-year sentence.
