ICE agent attempts to enter Ecuador consulate in Minneapolis, triggering diplomatic protest

An ICE agent attempted to enter the Ecuadorian consulate in Minneapolis at approximately 11 a.m., seeking to pursue individuals who had taken shelter inside the building. Consular staff blocked the agent from entering. Ecuador's Foreign Ministry filed a formal "note of protest" with the U.S. Embassy in Quito, calling the incident an "attempted incursion" and demanding assurances it would not recur. The Vienna Convention on Consular Relations explicitly prohibits host-nation law enforcement from entering a consulate without the head of mission's permission, except in cases of disaster.
