Federal judge summons ICE Director Todd Lyons for contempt after dozens of violated court orders

Chief U.S. District Judge Patrick Schiltz ordered Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons to appear personally in federal court to show cause why he should not be held in contempt for violating a January 14 order in the case of detainee Juan Tobay Robles. Schiltz noted the violation was "one of dozens of court orders with which respondents have failed to comply," also implicating DHS Secretary Noem and Acting ICE St. Paul Field Director David Easterwood. The administration released Tobay Robles before the hearing; Schiltz cancelled the proceeding but warned future noncompliance would again bring officials personally before the court.
