Gov. Tate Reeves canceled a special legislative session on May 13, 2026, originally scheduled for May 20 to redraw Mississippi's state Supreme Court districts. The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals vacated the underlying order on May 11 after the Supreme Court's Callais decision narrowed Section 2 protections. President Trump and Republican lawmakers had pressured Reeves to add congressional redistricting targeting Rep.
