Appeals Court Blocks Release of Hundreds a Day Before Deadline

The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Nov. 20, 2025, blocked the release of up to 615 immigrants one day before Judge Cummings's deadline. The court refused the longer stay the Trump administration sought and scheduled arguments for Dec. 2. By then officials had cut the pool to about 442 after flagging some people as safety risks and after others were deported or already released.
