FEC deadlocks on NRA-Russia campaign-finance allegations

On Nov. 7, 2022, the FEC closed a complaint alleging that the National Rifle Association illegally used Russian money to support Donald Trump in 2016 after commissioners split on whether to proceed. The deadlock became another example of enforcement failure in foreign-influence matters.
