Giulianis lies about Georgia poll workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss drive death threats
On December 10, 2020, Rudy Giuliani, acting as Trump's top campaign lawyer, falsely accused Fulton County poll workers Ruby Freeman and her daughter Shaye Moss of committing election fraud during a Georgia legislative hearing. The false claims — amplified by Trump — triggered a campaign of racist death threats and harassment. Freeman received messages calling for her hanging; strangers came to her home with bullhorns and the FBI told her she was not safe. She fled her home of 20 years in January 2021. Moss described becoming "a target" who never wanted to be out in public again. Both women suffered severe psychological harm. A jury awarded them $148 million in damages from Giuliani in August 2023 for defamation.
