CBP Officers Detain DACA Recipient Catalina Santiago at El Paso Airport

Customs and Border Protection officers detained Catalina Santiago, a 28-year-old DACA recipient, while she was boarding a domestic flight at the El Paso International Airport in August 2025. Santiago had entered the US illegally at age eight and received DACA status in 2012. A federal judge ordered her release in October 2025, but DHS continued removal proceedings, setting the stage for the BIA precedent decision.
