EPA cancels 400 environmental justice grants worth $1.7B
EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, working with DOGE, canceled more than 400 grants worth $1.7 billion across nine programs aimed at air and water quality, weatherization, and climate resilience for disadvantaged communities. Most grants were funded by Inflation Reduction Act appropriations to Justice40 communities. Local governments, tribes, and nonprofits sued in June 2025 challenging the terminations as a violation of the Administrative Procedure Act.
