Trump DOJ sues 24 states to seize unredacted voter files including Social Security numbers
The Department of Justice filed lawsuits against at least 24 states demanding production of unredacted statewide voter registration files that include driver's license numbers and partial Social Security numbers, claiming authority under the National Voter Registration Act to audit state compliance with voter roll maintenance requirements. States including Utah, Oklahoma, Kentucky, West Virginia, New Jersey, Arizona, Connecticut, and Virginia were among those sued. The Brennan Center for Justice characterized the campaign as a federal power grab over election administration.
