ICE Guards Kill Cuban Detainee Geraldo Lunas Campos in Texas Facility

Geraldo Lunas Campos, a 55-year-old Cuban immigrant, died at the Camp East Montana detention facility at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas after guards held him down and one placed an arm around his neck until he was unconscious. The El Paso County medical examiner ruled the death a homicide, finding the cause was asphyxia due to compression of his neck and torso. ICE's initial report claimed Lunas Campos had attempted suicide, contradicting eyewitnesses and the medical examiner's findings. DHS subsequently deported multiple witnesses who observed the killing.
