Otero County certifies primary results only after New Mexico Supreme Court order

Otero County commissioners first refused to certify New Mexico primary results, citing unsupported claims about voting machines. Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver asked the New Mexico Supreme Court to force certification. After the court order, Vickie Marquardt and Gerald Matherly voted to certify the results, while Couy Griffin voted no. The standoff showed how one county board could put valid local votes at risk until a state court enforced the canvass duty.
