Biden Infrastructure Law includes $55 billion for clean water, largest federal investment
The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law includes $55 billion for water infrastructure, the largest federal investment in clean water in American history. The funding includes $15 billion dedicated to lead service line replacement, $10 billion to address PFAS contamination, and $30 billion for wastewater and drinking water system upgrades including the State Revolving Fund programs. The investment addresses a backlog of deferred maintenance on water infrastructure across the country, including thousands of small water systems that serve rural communities. By 2024, over $40 billion has been announced and 2,400+ drinking water and wastewater projects have been launched in communities across all 50 states.
