SDNY arrests Epstein on federal sex trafficking charges after Miami Herald investigation breaks open sealed records
FBI agents arrested Jeffrey Epstein at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey on July 6, 2019, as he returned from Paris on his private jet. The Southern District of New York charged him with one count of sex trafficking of minors and one count of sex trafficking conspiracy, covering conduct from 2002 to 2005. Prosecutors alleged Epstein and associates recruited dozens of girls, some as young as 14, to his Manhattan mansion and Palm Beach estate. The charges were based partly on evidence assembled by the Miami Herald after its November 2018 investigative series exposed the 2008 non-prosecution agreement.
