Record 10 House Republicans announce gubernatorial bids, largest such exodus since 1974

CNN reported that 10 House Republicans announced plans to leave Congress and run for governor in 2026, the most from either party since at least 1974. The departing members include Byron Donalds (FL), Nancy Mace (SC), Ralph Norman (SC), Dusty Johnson (SD), John Rose (TN), John James (MI), Tom Tiffany (WI), and others. In South Carolina and Arizona, two GOP lawmakers are competing against each other for the same governorship.
