House Appropriations Defunds CPB and Slashes Foreign Operations in $9B Package

The House Appropriations Committee advanced a $9 billion rescission package that eliminated all remaining federal funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and cut billions from foreign operations accounts. Speaker Mike Johnson shepherded the package through committee over Democratic objections that the cuts violated the Impoundment Control Act.
