Operation Charlotte's Web begins in Charlotte

Border Patrol began an immigration sweep in Charlotte, the first city where Customs and Border Protection ran the operation without coordinating with ICE on the ground. Agents made 81 arrests the first day and more than 370 within five days. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools absences peaked above 30,000 students on a single day.
