Trump administration moves to cancel about 92% of USAID's foreign-aid awards, worth roughly $60 billion

In late February 2025, the administration told Congress and the courts it would eliminate about 92% of USAID's awards, roughly 5,800 contracts, as part of cuts valued at about $60 billion across State and USAID. Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency drove the rapid teardown.
