Jen Easterly Departs CISA on Inauguration Day

CISA Director Jen Easterly and Deputy Director Nitin Natarajan left the agency at noon on January 20, 2025, when all Biden appointees exited. Easterly had led CISA since July 2021 and built out the Election Security Program and Stakeholder Engagement Division now targeted for cuts. The vacancy left CISA without a confirmed director during the largest workforce contraction in its history.
