Trump signs executive order directing USPS to deliver mail ballots only to voters on DHS-compiled citizenship lists

President Trump signed "Ensuring Citizenship Verification and Integrity in Federal Elections" on March 31, 2026. The order directed USPS to deliver mail ballots only to voters on DHS-compiled citizenship eligibility lists and required DHS to build those lists using Social Security Administration and other federal databases. Democrats immediately challenged the order as an unconstitutional violation of the Elections Clause of Article I, Section 4.
