Trump freezes HRSA funding, threatening 1,400 rural health centers

The Trump administration froze Health Resources and Services Administration grant disbursements as part of a broader federal spending pause, halting payments to approximately 1,400 federally qualified health centers serving 30 million rural and low-income patients. HRSA-funded community health centers provide primary care regardless of patients'' ability to pay under Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act. The freeze threatened payroll, medication supplies, and operations at clinics in 49 states within days of the order.
