Congo agrees to accept third-country deportees under a new deal with the Trump administration

The Democratic Republic of Congo announced it would accept third-country nationals deported from the United States under a new agreement with the Trump administration, joining a growing list of African nations including Eswatini, Ghana, Rwanda, South Sudan, Uganda, and Liberia. The Congolese Ministry of Communications announced deportees would begin arriving in April under a temporary arrangement paid for by the US. Congo government said each situation would be subject to individual review under Congolese law and national security requirements.
