Trump incites supporters to march on Capitol mob breaches building halts electoral vote count

After a rally at the Ellipse where Trump and Rudy Giuliani urge supporters to march to the Capitol and "fight like hell," thousands of Trump supporters storm the Capitol building, breach police lines, and force the evacuation of both chambers during the joint session certifying the 2020 Electoral College results. Seven people die in connection with the attack. The certification process resumes at midnight. Trump is impeached for a second time on January 13, 2021, the only president impeached twice, for incitement of insurrection. The Senate acquits 57-43, falling short of the two-thirds threshold.
