Trump signs funding bill, ending record 43-day government shutdown

President Trump signed a government funding bill on November 12–13, 2025, ending a 43-day shutdown — the longest in U.S. history. The bill funded three full-year spending bills and a continuing resolution through January 30. Democrats conceded on ACA subsidy extensions. The shutdown began October 1 after Congress failed to pass appropriations, furloughing 670,000 workers and leaving 1.4 million more working without pay.
