Federal judge quashes DOJ subpoena for transgender youth medical records

U.S. District Judge Mary S. McElroy quashed a DOJ subpoena demanding five years of transgender youth medical records from Rhode Island Hospital, calling the demand a "drastic overreach" of investigative authority. McElroy found the DOJ misled a federal judge in Texas when seeking to enforce the subpoena, failing to disclose recent communications with the hospital. The DOJ filed an immediate appeal.
