Newsom's Former Chief of Staff Dana Williamson Indicted for Stealing $225K from Becerra Campaign

Dana Williamson, former chief of staff to Gov. Gavin Newsom, was indicted by federal prosecutors on charges of conspiring with four others to siphon approximately $225,000 from dormant state campaign accounts belonging to former HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra. Co-conspirator Sean McCluskie, a longtime Becerra aide, received the funds to supplement his salary after joining Becerra's Washington staff. Williamson later pleaded guilty to three of 23 felony counts.
