JCPOA nuclear deal signed in Vienna by Iran and the P5+1
Iran and the P5+1 nations signed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action in Vienna on July 14, 2015. Under the deal, Iran agreed to reduce centrifuges from 19,000 to 6,104, cap uranium enrichment at 3.67 percent, and accept IAEA inspections in exchange for sanctions relief. Secretary of State Kerry and Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif led negotiations after 20 months of talks. The agreement was the first binding limitation on Iran's nuclear program since the country began enriching uranium in 2003.
