Trump-Zelensky call: 'I would like you to do us a favor though'

On July 25, 2019, President Trump called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and, after Zelensky raised U.S. military aid, said "I would like you to do us a favor though" and requested investigations into a debunked Ukraine-centered 2016 election theory and into Joe Biden's involvement in a Ukrainian prosecutor's firing. NSC Director for European Affairs Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman listened on the call and filed an internal whistleblower complaint. The White House released a memorandum of the call on September 25, 2019, and the House used it as primary evidence in Trump's first impeachment, passing two articles in December 2019.
