Trump issues blanket pardons for nearly all January 6 defendants
On his first day back in office, President Trump signed a proclamation granting full pardons to nearly all January 6 defendants and commuting sentences for Proud Boys and Oath Keepers leaders convicted of seditious conspiracy. DOJ announced it would dismiss all remaining January 6 cases with prejudice. The pardons covered approximately 1,500 defendants, including those convicted of assaulting police officers. Four Capitol Police officers who were injured in the attack publicly objected.
