Elliott Broidy pleads guilty to covert foreign lobbying for Malaysian and Chinese interests
Republican fundraiser Elliott Broidy pleaded guilty on October 20, 2020 to conspiring to violate the Foreign Agents Registration Act by lobbying senior U.S. officials on behalf of foreign principals without disclosing those relationships. DOJ said Broidy worked to influence decisions benefiting Malaysia and China while concealing who paid him. Broidy had been a deputy finance chairman of the RNC and a major Trump donor. Trump pardoned him three months after the plea.
