Steve Bannon convicted of contempt of Congress for defying Jan. 6 Committee subpoena

A federal jury convicted Steve Bannon on July 22, 2022 on two counts of contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with the January 6 Committee's subpoena requiring testimony and document production. Bannon had claimed executive privilege despite never having been a government employee during the relevant period. Judge Carl Nichols sentenced him to four months in prison, though Bannon remained free pending appeal. Trump pardoned Bannon for this conviction in January 2025.
