D.C. attorney general settles with Trump inaugural committee over $1M hotel overcharge
The District of Columbia attorney general settled claims in May 2022 that Trump's presidential inaugural committee grossly overpaid the Trump International Hotel for event space, effectively transferring nonprofit donor funds to Trump's private business. The AG's 2020 lawsuit alleged the committee paid $175,000 per day for hotel space with a Trump Organization conflict of interest in setting those rates. The settlement required repayment of over $750,000 to the inaugural committee's successor entity.
