EPA inspector general finds $124,000 in unjustified travel costs for Pruitt and staff

The EPA Office of Inspector General found in April 2018 that approximately $124,000 in travel costs for EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt and his staff lacked sufficient documentation or justification, including first-class and charter flights. Pruitt had also required a 24/7 security detail that traveled with him on personal trips at public expense. The IG found the travel practices violated federal regulations. Pruitt resigned in July 2018 amid at least a dozen concurrent ethics investigations.
