EPA OIG reports Pruitt directed staff to perform personal errands on government time
The EPA Office of Inspector General documented in 2018 that Administrator Scott Pruitt directed EPA staff to perform personal tasks on government time, including researching a Chick-fil-A franchise for his wife, helping find a used mattress from the Trump International Hotel, and assisting with personal housing arrangements. The OIG found these uses violated federal ethics prohibitions on using official time and resources for personal benefit. The findings were one of at least 12 separate ethics investigations into Pruitt's conduct.
