Interior IG finds Zinke made false statements to investigators about casino decision
The Interior Department Office of Inspector General concluded in February 2022 that former Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke and his chief of staff Lola Zinke made inaccurate statements intended to mislead IG investigators about Interior's decision-making on a casino-related matter involving a Zinke political ally. The IG referred the findings to DOJ, which declined to prosecute. Zinke had resigned in December 2018 amid multiple OIG investigations, and the false-statements finding was the most serious conclusion to emerge from those investigations.
