Manhattan DA indicts Trump on 34 counts of falsifying business records

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg indicted Donald Trump on April 4, 2023 on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in the first degree. The indictment alleged that Trump falsified internal records to conceal reimbursements to attorney Michael Cohen for a $130,000 hush-money payment made to Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election. Eleven reimbursement checks were recorded as payments for legal services retainers that did not exist, and Trump was convicted on all 34 counts by a Manhattan jury in May 2024.
